Waimarino • arrived this morning from Bluff, to load for Timaru, Wellington, and Auckland. She is expected to sail late this evening. Kara sailed yesterday for Wellington, Nelson, and New Plymouth via was expected this afternoon from Lyttelton. She is to leave for Bluff this evening, and will return on Saturday to load out for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, and Auckland. Kaimai left Westport yesterday afternoon for Bluff, Dunedin, Timaru, and Lyttelton, and is now expected here on Friday. Breeze is expected to arrive from Wellington on Monday, and after discharge will proceed to Port Chalmers to dock for annual overhaul. Storm is now duo on Saturday from Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui. Wingatui leaves Auckland on Friday for Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. She is expected to arrive hero on October 15; Wainui leaves Wellington on Saturday next for Dunedin direct. She is due here on Monday, and will sail on Tuesday for Wellington, Napier, and Gisborne via ports. Holmdale is due on Monday from Wanganui. She is expected to sail the same day for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, Picton, and Wanganui. Holmglen is due on Monday from Port Waikato and Wellington, and is to sail the same day for Timaru, Lyttelton, Wellington, New Plymouth, and Waikato. —Overseas. — Hororata is laid up at Port Chalmers after' completion of discharge of her New York cargo. Karetu is due at Port Chalmers from Wellington to-morrow to undergo survey. Canadian Highlander is expected from New York and Montreal via northern ports on October 16. llotorua, from West Coast ports via northern ports, is due here on October !3. Wairangi is due at Port Chalmers on October 10 from London via Lyttelton. She is scheduled to leave here on October 14 for Bluff and Timaru to complete, and is then to load at Wellington, New Plymouth, Napier, and Auckland. Waikouaiti was due at Port Kembla to-day and at Sydney on Thursday to sail for Bluff, Dunedin, Timaru, and Lyttelton. She is due here on October 14. Tokyo Mam is due to-morrow morning from Japan-via northern ports. James Cook left Newcastle on Monday, and is expected to arrive here direct on Sunday next. Justitia, from Nova Scotia with a cargo of newsprint, is due hero about October 25, INTERISLAND EXPRESS, The intcrisland express steamer Maori arrived at Lyttelton from Wellington at 6.45 this morning. Passengers and mail for the south connected with the express. AUSTRALIA-NEW ZEALAND. Aorangi is to leave Sydney to-mor-row for zVuckland, where she is duo on October 12. Wanganella left Sydney on October 2 for Auckland. She arrived there yesterday, and is to leave to-morrow for Sydney, where she is expected on October 12. Waikouaiti left Newcastle on Saturday and Sydney on Monday for Bluff, Dunedin, Timaru, and Lyttelton. She is due hero on October 13. Awatea is to leave Sydney on Friday for Wellington, Auckland, and Sydney. She is due at Wellington on October 12. at Auckland on October 16, and at Sydney on October 19. BENHOLM CLEARS SYDNEY. The New Zealand Shipping Company has received cabled advice that the M.A.N.Z. Line chartered steamer Benholm, from Montreal, cleared Sydney, Cape Breton, on September 26 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin. She is due at Auckland on November 4. PERSONAL. THE TOKYO MARU, The Tokyo Mam, a new motor vessel of 6,477 tons gross and 3,858 tons net, arrived at Auckland last Friday on her 'first voyage from Japan. She is the fastest cargo vessel yet built in Japan, and is capable of a maximum speed of 21 knots. Fitted with the latest cargo appliances, including the square derricks, together with her raking bow and streamlined funnel and deck houses, she is an object of iitterest. A very fast passage from Sydney was . made by the Tokyo Marn. The vessel left Sydney on September 29 and reached Auckland at 4 a.m. on October 2. The Tokyo Mam, a sister ship to the Canberra Mam, is now oti her maiden voyage. She made the passage from Kobe to Brisbane in 11 days. The vessel is due at Dunedin to-morrow morning to discharge Japanese cargo and to load for Japan, sailing to-morrow evening via Australia. NEW SHIPS FOR AUSTRALIA. Many new ships will he seen in Australian waters during the next few months. The two new Hain Line steam ers, Trewellard and' Tregarthern, each of about 5,400 tons gross, will make their maiden voyages from Canada to Australia with shipments of paper. This company has placed an order with Lith gows Ltd., Glasgow, for two cargo motorships similar in dimensions to the Trewellard and Trogarthen. They will he tlio owners’ first motorships. For tlio general cargo trade between Great Britain. South Africa, and Australia, the twin-screw refrigerated steamer Clan Macaulay, for the Clan Line Steamers Ltd., was launched from the yards, of the Greenock Dockyard
Company on August 7. The vessel is constructed to carry about 11,000 tons deadweight, and to have a service speed of 17 knots. She will he followed by the Clan Cameron, the Clan Campbell, and other ships of similar design. They will be specially fitted for the carnage ot chilled and frozen meat and other perishable foodstuffs. To the order of Thos. Dunlop and Sons, Glasgow, the cargo motorship Queen Adelaide was launched by Barclay, Curie, and Company on July 30. Of 431 ft in length and 55ft in breadth, the vessel will carry about 9,200 tons deadweight. This vessel has been chartered by the Wesfarmers Line, and is expected to load in Western Australia towards the end of the year. She will he followed by the Queen Regio and Queen Maud.
