BUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE Quiet conditions prevailed on the local share market this morning, when a. sale after the call of 50 Broken Hill Proprietary rights at 2s 5d was the only recorded business The rights are attached to the Broken Hill'Company’s flotation of Wenmgton AUuvials Ltd., the nominal value of which shares is 2s This means that purchasers of the rights will pay 4s 5d for shares in the new flotation. . •, , Amongst banking issues New Zealands revealed a tendency to harden, buyers offering up to 38s 9d with no apparent seller. Commercials had a close market of 2d, while National of New Zealands were for sale at 60s 6d, with no buver over 58s 6d. P. and O. Deferred shares moved up 6d to buyers at 325, but present holders remained silent. In the financial and pastoral section Goldsbrough, Ilorts were wanted at 33s 4d, with sellers a shade easier at 33s lOd; wljUe Wright, Stephenson ordinaries had unapplied buyers at 18s 3d. In the miscellaneous group Australian industrials had a good inquiry on a market inclined to harden. Brown, Ewing shares continued to attract buyers, but no seller. National Electrics maintained yesterday’s sharp rise, and the ordnary issue of Wool;wortn’s (N.Z.) had unsupplied buyers at £5 3s 6d. Australian mining shares continued to be strongly favoured, all issues showing slight gains on yesterday’s market. Amongst local gold mining issues the two Molyneur River ventures ’ experienced an improved market. Shares in the Clutha River Company, which expected to make an attempt to launch its dredge at Clyde this afternoon, were sought at 3d premium, but sellers were silent. Molyneux Rivers were asked for at par, and the first seller in months appeared at 2a fid. This company’s dredge has been launched at Alexandra. Government loans continued to be the only section of the market to show any real strength, all issues having inquiry at firm rates, with 1937-40 stock providing the only seller —a parcel ef £250 worth at £lOl 15s, only 2s fid more than buyers were prepared to advance to. • SALE AFTER CALL.
