MONTHLY MEETING Air T. Al. Ball presided at the 1 monthly meeting of the taieri River Trust held at Alosgicl yesterday. CORRESPONDENCE. S. Snell (Alomona) wrote asking that a box- be put in on the dram going through E. Johnson’s property, as the water was eoming back and flooding bis laud 1 . —The Works Committee was empowered to inspect the drain and report to the next meeting of the trust. James Thomson (Alaungatua) made application to have Dio ditch running from Kirk’s drain through his and Beattie’s properties cleaned out at the earliest opportunity. —Left to the Works Committee with power to act. REPORTS. 'flic Works Committee recommended (hat the two electric motors in the old pumping station be removed ami sold. Tho slip at Swanson’s had been inspected. and it was found that about ebdit chains of this drain were slippme in, amt Die committee . recomiiiemled that this work be put m hand when conditions wore suitable. It vas also recommended that Lake Ascog and Poplar drains bo cleaned immediately. The top gang had been unable to get into the drains on account of the amount of water, and had cleaned the vorse on tho contour down to the Utokia road. It was further ■recommended that the bridge on B drain at Kirk s road and Clegg’s road bo removed and pipes inserted.—The report was adopted, and the recommendations wore approved. , ~ The inspector reported as follows on tho work done during the past mouth The drain through Shaw’s and Timblict’s, 38 chains long, had been cleaned out, and 26 chains of. Scott s bank had been repaired. The impeller on No. 1 pump had been cleaned out, and June’s water pipe had been put in working order. A new drain five chains long had been cut tor Al I atlzien, and a cover had been put over the pinion on Young’s pump. The Centro road drain from A drain to J. Reid’s. 3 7i chains in length, had been cleaned out, and Wain’s drain box bad been repaired. Two new platforms had been made for the excavator, and two more had been repaired. Gillespie’s drain, 42 chains long, had been cleaned out, and Smith’s box at hawthorn hedge had been filled in to prevent the live” from flooding tho. land. At present he was engaged in cleaning out Lake Ascog drain, 16 chains having been done. Tlie foreman of works reported that gorse bad been grubbed from Beattie’s bridge to Henderson’s, and on D. Cameron’s property. The contour bridge on D. Cameron's had been repaired with new posts and rails.- Several chains of Patrick's lagoon had been cut and dragged, all slips had been removed from Beattie’s drain, and the river hank had been attended to.
