LOVELOCK BEATEN IN MILE
THE RACE AT PRINCETON WON By COLLEGE STUDENT Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright PRINCETOWN, October 3. Lovelock failed in probably his last assault on the world mile record today, for Archie San Romani, a young Kansas College student, won the event by syds from the great Now Zealand runner and 15yds from Cunningham. Lovelock was in the lead at the half-mile and appeared to bo a sure winner, but suddenly Romani spurted and gained l a yard lead. Near the finish Lovelock made an attempt at bis famous final sprint, but Romani’s sprint was stronger and he gained 4yds in the last 200. Romani’s time was 4min 9sec.
