CURE FOR CONDENSATION UNDER VALVE COVER
Unless some efficient form of ventilation is provided for an overhead valve cover, condensation is likely to occur within, causing a pronounced deposit of rust on the valve steins, springs, and so on. Sometimes sufficient water is generated to collect in small pools on the top of the cylinder head in any recesses. Trouble with condensation can be overcome by the simple expedient of drilling holes in the valve coyer in such positions that a draught is created. One at the front end and another at the rear or others at the sides of the cover would be sufficient. The holes should he covered with wire gauze to prevent oil fumes exuding. The condensation is a natural product of variations in temperature which are bound to occur under the normal operation of the engine.
