REUNION AT ANDERSON'S BAY The Anderson’s Bay School Expupils’ Association commenced its seventy-eighth anniversary reumoft. celebrations on Saturday night by holding a social gathering, at which thera was a large attendance. Mr J. C. H. Somerville, who presided, said that lie was sure. all present were pleased 10 see with them several old ex-pup.is, notably Mr Thomas Granger, the first; boy to enter the school. Mr Somerville also welcomed Mr W. T. Hildreth, the president, of the association, who always came from Wellington to attend the ceremonies. Replying, Mr Hildreth said that as long as- he was able to obtain a steamer passage he would attend the annual reunion. Now that some people had. more leisure, he would like to see a membership drive commenced. Mr Hildreth believed that their association was a wonderful one,- as die had made inquiries at the Education Department in Wellington andhad ascertained that the Anderson’s' Bay expupils were the only ones in New Zealand who held an annual reunion. The secretary (Mrs J. J. HinchcliffV read the annual report and balance sheet, which were adopted. Mr Hildreth was re-elected president by acclamation, mid was accorded musical honours.. Other officers elected were as follows:—Chairman, Mr J. C. H. Somerville; secretary and treasurer,Mrs J. J Hinchcliff; auditor, Mr W. T. Grant; committee—Mesdames Ross, Lanham, Renfree, Fulton, Wilson,' Misses Somerville, R. Munro, M. 1J gg, L’. Ross, L).‘ Cooper, A. Bishop, P. Somerville, P. Blackmore, N. M'Lellan, R. M'Garrigle, M. Peafce, Messrs J. R. Jeffery, J. S. Somerville, B. Guthrie, A. Samuel, W. Somerville. Duung the evening the older expupils were presented with buttonholes and bouquets. Those to whom presentation were made were Messrs Hildreth, Grainger, and Abel (an exteacher), and Mesdames Vernon, J, Henderson, J. J. Hinchcliff, Jeffery, Cameron, A. Nichol, and Newell. An enjoyable entertainment was given during the evening by the following:—Misses P. Somerville, C. Hinchcliff, A; Aitkeu, Ei Graham, Messrs H. Crossan, T. Somerville, D. Wilson, and W. Somerville- (songs) Miss I, Reekie (songs); 'Mesdames Ross aiid Hinchcliff, Misses A. Bishop, IV Ross, N. M'Lellan, and M. Pearce (play, ‘The Christening’); Misses R. M'Garrigle, T. Allan, and Mr J. M Garrigle* (instrumental trio); -Miss N. Glue (recitations); Miss R. Stubbs (song) ; Misses N. M'Lellan, C. Arthur, E. Miles, B. Wilson, Messrs D. Wilson, W. Somerville, T. Russell, 1.Bishop, B. Guthrie, and J. M'Garngla (play, ‘The Haunted Room’). A'church service for members was held at the Anderson’s Bay Presbyterian Church last evening, when Mr J* S. Somerville, M.A., was the preacher.. Readings were taken*by Messrs B* Guthrie and A. • Samuel, and the choir rendered the anthem, Ther* Comes at Times a Stillness.’ The organist was Mr J. Clark.
