CATHEDRAL QUEEN CARNIVAL
The transformation of the Victoria and Fuller Halls and other halls adjoining His Majesty’s Theatre is now complete in readiness for the opening of the Cathedral Queen Carnival tomorrow night bv the mayor (the Rev. 0. T. Cox). Stalls of original design, well stocked with miscellaneous articles and goods for a variety of tastes and pockets, will be situated in Fuller Hall, and the refreshment room will occupy the Victoria Hall. Downstairs the entire floor space will be devoted to the amusement park, which comprises all the old favourite games of skill and many new and diverting novelties. All the halls have been artistically decorated, and a carnival atmosphere is assured. Commencing at 7.45 p.m. sharp, a bright and sparkling variety show, ‘ Cabaret Continental,' will be presented by ft company of 5Q artists. Highlights from this entertainment will include the song and dance numbers bv Tui Northey and Jim Macfarlane, 'Tn a Little Gipsy Tea Room,’ 1 h.rom the Top of Your Bead,’ two exhibition dances by Miss Helen Abraham and Mr Kevin Dun to music of the New Collegians’ Band, Mr Alex. M'Dowell in the negro number, ‘ Pickin’ Cotton, Miss Joyce Rowley in her spectacular toe-tap, a smart tap dance by a trio of men, and the ballots Irom the Constance Potts School of Dancing, following this scena opportunity will be given the patrons to view the carnival, and at 9.30 p.m. approximately a Im - - ther programme of specialty acts and diverting sketches will be presented. Chang-Lu, the celebrated Chinese illusionist, will occupy a prominent posilion on this programme, and Bert Nelson, the cycling down, is said to Kate a turn of unusual character and interest. Two “ thumb-nail ’’ sketches, entitled 1 Justice ’ and ‘ It’s Moments Like These . . . ’ and a further ballet will also be presented.
