HIT-AND-RUN CHARGE
MOTORING FATALITY [Per United Press Association.] GREYMOUTH, October 2. John Cyril O’Donnell, aged 27, single, a trucker, was committed for trial on charges of negligently driving a car, causing the death of Wilha.ni Ramsay Burt on August 29 in High street, Greymouth; also with, failing to stop and ascertain whether he had injured Burt and failing to render assistance. The evidence showed that Burt was found dead on the road at 2 a.m. with a motor cycle some distance away. An inquest was held simultaneously, and the coroner (Mr H. Morgan) found that the deceased had died as the result of a fracture of the base_ of the skull, resulting from a collision between a motor car driven by John Cyril O’Donnell and a motor cycl# ridden by the deceased.
