CONTEMPORARY COMPOSERS OH WEDNESDAY Monday.—Again listeners will have the opportunity of hearing ‘ The Concert Hall of the Air ’ during the evening session, when further light orchestral music and songs will bo performed. Bill and ’Erb will have some new topical tit-bits, and the Faculty Players will enact the radio play by Lord Dunsany, ‘Bureau de Change.’ Tuesday.—The English comedian, Arthur Helmsley (Mr Filbert), will have some more jokes to offer, and, in addition, there will be recorded items and music by the St. Kilda Band. Wednesday.—Contrasts in music will be illustrated after 9 o’clock, when a programme by two contemporary composers—Eric Coates and George Gershwin—will be played. During this programme Mrs Clarice Drake and the 4YA Concert Orchestra, under the direction of Gil Dech, will play 4 The, Rhapsody in Blue’ (Gershwin). In the early part of the concert programme Major F. H. Dampen will speak on ‘ The Story of Dartmoor Convict Prison.’

Thursday.—Recorded music by tho Lamoureux Concert Orchestra of Paris will comprise the main portion of the concert programme. Friday.—The 4YA Chamber Music Players will appear, and the programme will include ‘ Sonatina ’ (Dvorak), played by Miss Ethel Wallace (violinist) and Miss Muriel Ironside (pianist). Saturday.—Victorian melodies by 8.8. C. recorded artists will be played.
