STAPS ON THE LAWN. —One of the greatest centres of influence upon the world progression of fashion is the film colony of California. What favourite movie stars wear to-day, dll America wears to-morrow—and the rest of the fashion world is very susceptible to suggestion. It is interesting, therefore, at this time, to look at these two pictures taken in the magnificient Santa Anita Park, where the Los Angeles Turf Club conducts its huge and fashionable meetings.
The actress at the top is Joan Perry, the Columbia star, who looks smart in an- ensemble with a wrap-over skirt and short costume coat, from the sleeves of which falls a three-quarter length cape. The material is black wool matalasse, with a collar trimming of fox fur.
Marian Marsh, who is also seen in Columbia pictures, appears in a brown-and-white checked coat which goes well with her shirt and hat of nigger, brown. The large handbag and suede gloves are also brown .
