SUNDAY SERVICES
Young People’s Day will be observed at First Church, and the Rev. W. Allen Stevely will conduct both services. The subject in the morning will be 4 The Joy of Worship,’ and in the evening he will speak on ‘ The Reality of Worship.’ The scholars of the Russell Street Sunday 'School, and also the central scholars, will attend the morning service and occupy the centre pews. The music will include the quartet, 4 The Duteous Day Now Closetn,’ and the anthem, ‘ Come Ye Faithful, Raise the Strain.’ Dr V, E. Galway will’be the organist. Rev. D. C. Herron, M.A., will conduct both services in Knox Church. His evening subject will be * In Spirit and In Truth.’ Sunday school anniversary services will be held in St. Stephen’s'Presbyterian Church, when the preacher will be the Rev. Thomas Miller. ‘ Planted in God’s House ’ will be the subject at the morning service, and ‘ Worship, True and False ’ the subject in the evening. At both services there will be special singing by the children. . The Rev. A .H. Scrivin. general secretary of the Methodist Overseas Mission Society, will conduct the evening service at Trinity Methodist Church. Mr Howie Andrew will sing ‘ The Blind Ploughman.’ The anthem will be ‘ Send Out Thy Light.’ The Rev. C. H. Olds will preach in the morning. The services at the Methodist Central Mission will be conducted in the morning by the Rev. Leslie B. Neale, and in the evening by the Rev. B. M. Tasker. The soloist at this service will be Mr L. Dunbar. The services at the Dundas Street Methodist Church will take the form of 44 Overseas Mission Anniversary.” Rev. N. Challenger will conduct the morning service, and Rev. T. R. B. Woolloxall the evening service. The anthem 4 The Radiant Morn ’ will be presented by the choir, and Miss Jean M‘Lay will render a solo. At the Hanover Street Baptist Church the services will be taken by the Rev. J. Ewen Simpson, who will speak, in the morning, on * Tyndale and the Bible,’ and in the evening on 4 Predestination.’ In the evening the choir will sing the anthem 4 Gloria ’ (Mozart), and the hymn-study 4 Jesus, Lover of My Soul.’ At Caversham Baptist Church the Rev. R, L. Fursdon will conduct the services. The morning subject is entitled 4 Sin and Forgiveness.’ At night there will be a musical service. The subject of the address is 4 A Cure For Worry.’ There will be an anthem by the choir, and Miss Angela Hendry will render a solo.
Foreign Missions Day is being observed at St. Kilda Methodist Church. Appropriate addresses will be given by Rev. I. S. Williamson at the morning service and by Rev. T. Skuse in the evening. Services of divine worship at Moray Place Congregational Church will be conducted by the Rev. Professor S. F. Hunter, D.D. The morning subject will bo ‘ Study, Psalm 122,’ and the evening subject ‘ Peter’s Denial and Renewal.’ The anthem will bo ‘ Praised Be the Lord.’ The Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper will bo administered after the morning service. The Rev. C. G. Hedley Bycroft will conduct the services at the United Congregational Church to-morrow. In the morning he will speak on ‘ Heirs of God,' and at the evening service 1 The Supreme Blessings Needed To-day.’ Mr John Edgar will bo the soloist. Communion will be held at the close of the evening service. The services at the Salvation Army, Dowling street, will be conducted by Major Armstrong, one of the Array’s old fiery apostles. The major was in charge of the Array’s work amongst the Maoris in the early days, and ho will tell of some interesting experiences during the day. He will also be heard singing some of the Maori hymns. The major will give a lecture on the Monday night on oarly-day experiences amongst the Maoris. All are welcome to these special services. In the Theosophical Hall Miss N. E. Ockenden will commence her series of lectures with one specially for inquirers. She has chosen as her title ‘ The Apparent Injustices of Life.’ The evening service at York Place Hall will lie conducted by Mr James M'Farlane, formerly associated with
the church meeting in Choral Hall, Dunedin, but now resident in Ontario, Canada. Mr M'Farlane is on a short holiday to New Zealand, and will ho pleased to meet bis many friends in Dunedin. At the Greater World Christian Spiritual Mission divine service will bn conducted by'Sister Frances. Spiritual clairvoyance will follow.
