FREE KINDERGARTEN ASSOCIATION
COUNCIL MEETING The monthly meeting of the Dunedin Free Kindergarten Council was held on Thursday afternoon, when Mrs R. A, Ewing presided over a good attendance of members, the following being present;—Lady Sidey, Lady Hutchison, Mesdames Batham, Cox, Glendming, Halsted, Hudson. Melville, Moody, Phillips. Shand, Smith, Stevenson. Taverner, Theomin, Wilson, and Misses Scott and Ulrich. It was reported that a number of children had gone on to the primary schools at the beginning of the term, but many three-year-olds had enrolled at the various kindergartens. It was also reported that now the primary school entrance age was five years, th® “ waiting ” lists had been absorbed and there was room in all the kinder, gartens. with the exception of St, Kilda, for more children. The health of the children was excellent and they had settled down very happily for the final term’s work. The students’ practical tests were bein' l, conducted and these would go on H ntif November 6. The mothers’ interclnh competitions were being organised for October 21 at the Hudson Kindergarten and much interest and friendly rivalry was being created among the mothers.
