VISIT OF WEST COAST MEMBERS The Loyal Cavcrslmm Lodge held a special meeting in the Lodge Hall, Forbury Cornel', on Saturday, September 26, the occasion being a visit from a number of brethren of the Loyal Greymouth Lodge and the Westland district. The meeting opened with a good attendance of members, P.G. Bro. V. Parker presiding. A hearty welcome was extended to the visitors, among whom were P.D.G.M. Bro. A. V. M'Cluskie arid I.P.P.G.M. Bro. W. A. Clarke, district officers of the United Westland District. The'meeting then adjourned, and the visitors were entertained at a social function. The Otago district officers were absent at Lawrence attending the half-yearly, district meeting but past district officers present were P.P.G.M.s Bros, J. Wilson, It, S. Black, A. 11. Lawry, P. W. Stabb, and J. A. Robson. The toast of “The United Westland District ” was honoured, Bros. M'Cluskie and Clarke responding on behalf of the six lodges comprising their district. These brethren spoke on the work of the order on the West Coast, and extended a cordial invitation to one and all to visit the Coast. The toast of “ Loyal Greymouth Lodge ” was proposed by P.G. Bro. D. Cooke, who was formerly a member of that lodge, and who took his clearance to Loyal Caversham Lodge. The toast was acknowledged by P. Secretary Bro. J. F. Laing, who stated_ that this was the third excursion during September from the West Coast, otherwise many more members would have made the trip. He asked P.P.G.M. Bro. Clark to present to Bro. Cooke a diploma which the latter had earned while in the Groymouth Lotdgc. A tribute was also paid to Bro. Cooke for his efforts in arranging this visit. The “ Otago District ” was proposed by Bro. R. S. Black, P.P.G.M.s Stabb, Lawry, and Robson responding. In proposing the toast of “ Loyal Caversham Lodge,” P.G. Bro. Green said that so much had been heard of Caversham Lodge through one of the members that a juvenile lodge had been formed in Greymouth and was making good progress. Thanking various brethren who had assisted him, V.G. Bro. Taylor responded on behalf of Caversham. D.P.G.M. Bro. M'Clnskie, in thanking the Caversham Lodge for its hospitality, said that one and all had spent an enjoyable evening, the visitors being impressed by the number of P.P.G.M.s present and by the activities of the Otago district. During the evening items were contributed by Bros. Roberts, Seddon (Greymouth), Snell (songs), Rusback (piano solos), Graham (accordeon), and Bond (recitations). The fortnightly meeting of Loyal Centenary Lodge was held in the Wesley Hall, South Dunedin, on Monday evening. P.G. Bro. J. P. Hartstonge presided, the N.G. having been granted leave of absence for the evening. Those delegates who represented the lodge at the half-yearly district meeting later submitted their reports, giving an interesting resume of the business transacted, the thanks of the lodge being conveyed to them. The lodge then adjourned to be entertained by the trustees, Bros. Boardmau, Boll," and Palmer, whose evening took the form of progressive euchre. Tho winner was Bro. Muntz. The evening concluded with supper, a vote of thanks being accorded the hosts.
The fortnightly meeting of Loyal Albion Lodge was hold in the M.U. Hall, Stuart street, on Thursday evening, N.G. Bro. R, Bosevear being in the chair. Correspondence was received from Bro. A. Cameron announcing arrangements for the official visit to Mosgiel. The Social Committee reported on arrangements for a function next lodge night, when the seventy-second anniversary of the lodge will be celebrated. The committee is endeavouring to arrange for many old members to be present on that occasion. One now member was initiated. The meeting adjourned early to entertain members of Loyal Albion, Caversham, and Prince of Wales Juvenile Lodges, who were welcomed by the N.G. The boys wore well catered for in the way of gantes and competitions, and wore later entertained at supper. On resuming, the delegates to the district meeting reported on the business transacted, and were thanked for their services. Loyal Caversham Lodge held its fortnightly meeting in the Lodge Hall, h’orbury Corner, on Wednesday evening, when there was a fair attendance of members. One new member was initiated and two propositions for membership were received. Tim usual business incidental to quarter night was dealt with, and accounts passed for payment. Chief interest was taken in the reports of P.P.G.M. Bro. J. Wilson and P. Secretary Bro. J. List, who represented the lodge at the half-yearly district meeting. The delegates also reported visiting at Lawrence Bro. Blackwood, the only surviving foundation member of Caversham Lodge.
