INTERMITTENT RAIN The following weather forecast waa issued at noon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the southern districts—Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton, Orepuki, Bluff, Halfmoon Bay:— An anti-cyclone still extends across the North Island, and is centred to the north. A westerly depression is advancing across the South Tasman Sea. Forecast: Moderate to strong northerly to westerly winds of gale force in places. Weather cloudy to overcast, with rain at times. Seas rough. UNSETTLED CONDITIONS. Changeable weather was experienced in Dunedin yesterday, the sky being overcast, and light rains falling at intervals in the morning. Towards evening the sun pierced the cloud blanket to shine brightly. This morning broke line but dull, and the sky became heavily overcast at 12 o’clock. There was a light south-westerly wind in evidence at this time, and the barometer registered a falling pressure of 29.7 in. Temperatures until 12.30 p.m. to-day were 63deg maximum, and 48deg minimum, while corresponding readings yesterday were 51deg and 46deg. For a period of 24 hours yesterday the registrations were 56deg and 38.8 deg. Bain totalled .Olin, and there was Ideg of frost in the evening. Rain commenced to fall at 12.15 p.m. to-day, and promised to continue intermit* tently all afternoon.
