[A message received from Canberra yesterday stated: News has been received from the Acting-Administrator of New Guinea of an attack by natives on September 24 on a patrol in the Rai Coast area, near Madang. The Assistant District Officer, Mr Nurton, and all members of the camp were wounded. Six of the attacking natives were killed and one woman captured. The natives grabbed Mr Nurton while the women attacked him with knives. Other men attacked Mr Nurton’s native police with arrows.]
