LATEST EXCHEQUER RETURNS INCREASE IN ORDINARY REVENUE (British Official Press Association —By Telegraph l Copyright RUGBY, September 30. (Received October 1, at noon.) The ordinary revenue of the United Kingdom in the quarter ended to-day exceeded the figure for the correspondiog period of last year by £s*9lß,Otto, and amounted to £163,462,069. This i* one of the interesting facts rivaled by the Exchequer returns for the second quarter and the first half of the financial year. ... - The recovery m revenue in the second, quarter was insufficient fully to . offset the slower returns in the earlier part of the year, and the total ordinary revenue to date is £1,891,244 less than the same date last year. It stands at £285,002,715. , , - The income tax shows a decrease ot just over £6.000,000 compared with a year ago, and the yield of estate duties is £4,510,000 less. Customs, however, stand £6,667,000 above the figures of a year ago. and, at £104,306,000 reflect the growth ot overseas trade during the six months. Excise corresponds exactly with tn» total a year ago of £51,900,000. The total ordinary expenditure to date is £365,395,005, compared with £346,347,079 a year ago. The increase is almost entirely in respect of the Army, Navy, and Air Force, votes. The self-balancing revenue and expenditure in respect of the "Post Office and Rond Fund are £3,061,000 higher than a year ago, at a total of £40,453 000. ' The total is outstanding. The floating debt of £863,455.000 is £81,285,000 more than at the end of the last financial year, but compares with £914,120,000 on the corresponding date in 1935 t
