NO FURTHER BURSARIES
TRENTHAM SCHOLARSHIP FUND
[Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, September .30. It was announced at the annual meeting of the Trentham scholarship fund executive that the assets of the fund were now only sufficient to meet the liabilities already incurred under the bursaries and therefore no further applications would bo invited. The report for the year stated that applications for 351 bursaries had been received as compared with 456 the previous year. Forty-one had been declined. The sum represented by the awards was £3,458 10s and the average award bad been £l4 8s lOd. Since these awards had been made 34 had been cancelled, representing £312 t : nco the inception or the fund £64,021 17s had been paid to the bursars. A total of 3,564 bursaries had been ■warded, affecting 1,381 children. On lie average each child had benefited a the extent of £46 7s 2d
