At Rand wide, where the “A” grass track was used for the first time for 12 months, Gold Rod just cantered from the U mile post, while Mala went a comfortable half-mile in 51isec with Golden Treasure. Marne, going well within himself, easily beat Athenian over seven furlongs in limn 32sec. Gay Blonde easily beat Golden gate over five furlongs in Imin 2Jsec. Cuddle, with Webster up, was ridden all the way and took Imin 17sec for six furlongs. She did not finish well. Capris and Autobus together covever five furlongs in Imin 3sec. Silver Standard and Heroic Faith ran an easy five furlongs in Imin ssec. Gustos led Bobby over the mile in Imin 45Jsec. Gay Sheik led Spirits oyer an easy seven furlongs in Imin 36sec. Lasting beat Tuckerbox and Cyrillian over the mile in Imin 45sec. Oro did the fastest mile in Imin 42isec. He carried a good weight and moved attractively. Happy landing was well beaten by Verberry over nine furlongs in 2min Ijsec. Queen of Song galloped five furlongs on the tan in Imm 2sec. At Victoria Park Gay Lover did a very smart gallop over five furlongs in Imin Isec, the last four being run in 48}sec. Prittle Prattle did five furlongs in Imin 2isec, and could have done better. Silver Ring, carrying a very light boy. reeled oft six furlongs in Imin 14isec, a particularly satisfactory gallop. Sporting Blood also pleased, accompanying Satmoth over seven furlongs in Imin 28isec, the first three being run in 37$sec. Silver Jubilee and High vyent together over six furlongs in Imin 15|sec. Miss Newell defeated Miss Hartopp, 4 and 2. FOURTH ROUND. Miss Fishwick defeated Miss Goklsworth, 4 and 3. Miss Holme defeated Mrs Crosthwaite, 3 and 2. M iss Wade defeated Mrs Gold, 3 and 2 Mi ss Gourlay defeated Miss Wilkins, 4 and 3. Lady Eddis defeated Miss Hamilton, 1 up. Miss Morgan defeated Miss Norris, 4 and 3. Miss Newell defeated Miss Pockett, 4 and 3. Four ex-title-holders, Misses Fishwick, Wade, Gourlay, and Morgan, thus enter the fifth round, AUSTRALIAN SWIMMERS' TOUR WESTPORT ACCEPTS APPEARANCE. Advice was received by the Otago Swimming Centre this morning that the Westport Amateur Swimming Club had agreed to the centre’s terms for an appearance of the Australian swimmers in December, and the visit would be accepted.
