Sir, —Mr Cookson evidently is not over-observant when he states that the hours adopted by Dunedin groceJs are now being observed- A tour or Dun.-* edin and suburban shops any morning will disclose about 50 per cent, open for business. The remaining 50 per cent, have their doors closed, but m most cases a discreet knock at the door will no doubt meet with a ready answer. I wonder if the Labour De* partment is keeping check of the hour* worked by assistants in the grocery trade?—l am, etc., Observer. October 1.-
