SPRING FLOWER SHOW
ST. PAUL'S CATHEDRAL • Quality was strikingly represented in the annual spring flower show of St. Paul’s Cathedral, which was opened in the church hall, Stuart street, _ this afternoon. Due probably to unsuitable weather conditions, the entries in the 21 sections of the two classes were not as large as usual, but any deficiency in that respect was handsomely offset by the choice excellence of the flowers. A collection of polyanthus attracted the greatest attention in the _ cut flowers section, the winning exhibit consisting of outstanding blooms. The daffodil entries were disappointing, and, though the pansy section was not accorded competitive support, this constituted a very even selection. The competition class was more comprehensive in numerical strength, especially in the children’s sections. A pleasing feature of the show, which will conclude at 9.30 this evening, is the excellent arrangement of the entries. A collection of plants, seedlings, cut flowers, cakes, and produce is being sold. The stallholders are as . follow: Plants—Lady Sargood, Mrs Cheeseman, Miss M'Kellar, Miss Johnstone.
