HIGHEST IN SIX YEARS RETURNS FOR THE MONTH The highest death rate for a her since 1930 is shown ip. the vital statistics for the past month. For the three months, July, August, and September, of .this year 322 births were recorded, against 343 for the same quarter of last year. There was a considerable increase in the number of deaths in this period also, 300 as compared with 246. Marriages increased, there being 182 this quarter and 163 last year in the corresponding months. RETURNS FOR NINE MONTHS. During the nine months ended to-day there were increases noted in births, marriages, and deaths. There have been 975 births up to date, an increase of 26 over the 949 of the first nina months last year. The deaths totalled 776, as compared with 680 last year, while there were 48 more marriages this year, the number standing at 583, last year’s figure for the same period being 535. ■■
