MONTHLY MEETING OF DIRECTORS The monthly meeting of the board of directors was held on Monday, there being present Messrs J. L. Salmond (in the chair), J*. M‘Ara, W. Stevenson. E. R. Grace, J. B. Waters, M. C. Henderson, F. Breese, T. Hilliker, A. Laurenson, F. Foote, D. K. Macdonald, A. Martin, C. M'Kinnon, Geo. Salmend, C. J. Darracott, P. Findlay, and J. H. Don Miller (general secretary) The secretary reported on a full programme successfully carried out iu all departments. Increased'" attendances at all classes, groups, and lunches were recorded. The tepid baths had been reopened and were being extensively patronised. The young men’s department was concluding a most useful year, wherein the fourfold association programme of religious, physical, social, and mental activities had been successfully carried out. The residential , department was continuing to be very popular, a feature being the number or younger men applying for. lodgings where a home influence was evident. Big Brother Movement; Twentyfive boys were being assisted. Silver Jubilee Appeal.—Great satisfaction was felt at the fine response and sympathy given by the public. Boys Work.—The director of this work, Mr G. R. Pitikethley, reported a higher membership than for years, and an enthusiasm and interest amongst the boys which assured success. Preparations were already in train for the boys’ health camp at Whare Flat in the Christmas holidays. Over 300 boys ■were in membership. ■ No less than 21 visits to industries were made during the holidays. Physical Department.—The physical director, Mr C. W. Postgate, reported that bigger classes and higher attendances than for many years were shown. Work was being concentrated on the big annual demonstration, ‘ Pep Comes to Town,’ to be held in October.
