pEH ISLAND CLUB. : J The sixth annual meeting of, tha Green Island Cricket Club was held recently when the president (Mr A, Harraway) congratulated the club on completing another successful year. The annual report showed that although the senior team had been split up at the beginning of the season the club had been successful in winning the second grade B competition. Lindsay) for their valuable assistance to the club during the past six years. ST. HILDA LADIES’ CLUB The report presented at the annual meeting of the St. Kilda Ladies Club stated that the past season had. been very successful. The A team was to be congratulated on being runners-up in the senior competition, which showed a definite advance in the standard; or play. The financial position of the club was fairly satisfactory and it. was expected that the club will be m a much better position this yesx. •- Representatives. were extended to Miss V. Miss J. HAMMOND IN FORM BIG SCORE FOR GLOUCESTER Almost on the eve of his departure for Australia with the England team, W. R. Hammnod once again showed tin* great ability as a batsman by scoring 317 for Gloucestershire against tinghamshire. His innings dwarfed everything else in the cricket, and he beat by three runs the figures set up for August by W G. Grace, who scored 1 eye in 1876. In addition Hammond completed his 2,000 runs for the season, and with his score beat his previous i, es t 302 not out against (ilamorgan at Bristol in 1934. The biggest innings of his career, as New Zealanders will remember, was made at Auckland in 1932, when he played for England. On that occasion Hammond scored 336 not out. ■
