CRICKET PITCHES ON OVAL
TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —Do the city councillors realise the nuisance and dangers being created by allowing cricketers to use the new pitches on the Oval facing Park Terrace? These playing areas are within a chain of the roadline, and will, without doubt, be a source of danger to pedestrians and property. Children will be unsafe in this locality, and motor cars parked on the Oval side will certainly be damaged. The council will be responsible. A hit for two will send the ban into properties and through windows. In the past balls have been hit into gardens, and have continually struck the fences even trom Hie original areas. Why the councillors have allowed the pitches to materialise so near a busy street is beyond comprehension. If play > s allowed, trouble will surely eventuate tor the City Council.—l am, etc., September 29. Snoo.
