Criminal master minds plot his death, deadly cobras strike out with poisonous fangs, and foaming gorillas rage-at his back, but Warner Gland, as the famous Chinese detective, calmly and silently unravels one of the most baffling mysteries of his entire career in the Fox picture, ‘Charlie Chan ,at the Circus,’ which concludes tonight at the • Grand. The film is as convincing and exciting as any of its predecessors, and holds appeal for young and old. TWO EXCELLENT FEATURES, Having scored a decided triumph in their first film -together, ‘The Three Musketeers,’ Walter Abel and Margot Grahame rise to new heights in their mystery drama, ‘ Two in the Dark,’ which will commence a local seasons at the Grand to-morrow. Miss Grahame, the lovely English' star, whom Hollywood only recently ■“ discovered,” carries the romantic interest, though hers is not the . usual sugar-and-cream romantic part.. She plays a destitute show girl who falls in love with a pitiful amnesia victim suspected of murder, and the-role requires a highly emotional performance. Miss ' Grahame’s beauty seems likely-to start a new trend in what motion picture audiences will demand of their female stars. She represents femininity in the last degree. In the past directors have sought principally leading ladies with square. shoulders and straight liuqs. _.MisstGrahame i i'. fKb. '.exactV,opposite. '.Erin O’BrienMoore and GqiJ Patrick are also in the cast. The associate picture will be ‘ Here Comes Trouble,’ featuring Arline Judge, Paul Kelly,. and Sammy Cohen. Paul Kelly, who does some magnificent work in his first comedy role, is the hero of this picture, while pert and vivacious Arliqg Judge proves a fitting romantic partner for him.
