NEW REGULATIONS LICENSE FEES INCREASED The regulations which will govern the sport of angling in Otago for the season opening on Thursday were received by the secretary of the Exeeu-, v tive Council of the Acclimatisation Society last evening. These stated;—(a) During the month of April in each year, no person shall use for fishing in the Water of Leith any hook or hooks other than the undermentioned: —Single hook: No. 4 (new number), No. 1 (old No. 11). Treble hooks: Not larger than No. 6 (old number); (b) No person shall, in fishing for trout in the Water of Leith, use any weights whatsoever on any lines, hook or hooks; (c) during the month of April in each year, no person shall use' in fishing for trout in the Water of Leith any gaff hook of any description whatsoever. LICENSE FEES. The complete schedule of license fees for the coming season will be as follows - Whole season (throughout New Zealand, except in the Rotorua Acclimatisation district): Males over 16 years of age, £1 ss; women, 7s 6d; persons under 16 years of age, ss. .... Half season (district in which issued): Males over 16 years of age, 15s; women, ss; persons under 16 years of age, ss. (district in which issued) : Males over 16 years of age, 10s; others, ss. Weekly (district in which issued): Males over 16 years of age, 10s; others, S S , Day (district in which issued): 5s per license. . . ~ , Single river (district in which issued) : Males over 16 years of age, 10s; others, ss. Of these fees, 10 per cent, of the aggregate amounts charged will be paid by the society to the public account for fisheries research work, which will he carried out wholly in future by the Marine Department. The balance of the increased fee is to be retained as revenue of the society.
