A man went to consult a solicitor. “ What can I do,” he asked, “to a boy who threw a stone and broke one of my windows?” “ You can make his father pay for the damage,replied the solicitor. “ Then.” said the man, triumphantly, perhaps you’ll hand me four shillings. It was your son who did the damage.” “Is that so?” replied the solicitor. “It simplifies matters. If you hand me two-and-eight-pence w;e shall be quits.”
