Three peasants were killed and 50 ’injured and many gendarmes were wounded in the village of Ilenupza in the Baltzi district as the result of religious disturbances following the introduction of a new calendar, _ The trouble arose when the police tried to arrest a monk, Clixnovici, who advocated the reintroduotion of the Gregorian instead of the Julian calendar adopted by Rumania in 1924.
