A.D. Bro. L. L. Hodge presided over a good attendance gt the regular meeting of All Nations’ Lodge. Routine business was transacted,' and satisfaction expressed at a decrease in the amount of sickness. A large number, of visitors from the city lodges were heartily welcomed, and ,a team, with. P.G.P. Bro. A. Walker, performed the initiation ceremony in a very impressive manner, and were afterwards heartily congratulated. The loyal toasts were duly honoured, and replied to. Supper was served, and a very eujoydble time - was spent at cards. D. Bro. Tyrrell is to he congratulated on the success of the visit,' which was made under his leadership. ■ Bay Lodge, No. - 18, held -its fortnightly meeting in the Masonic Hall, St. Hilda, on Slonday, September 21, Arch Druid Bro. J. Wilson presiding . over a good attendance of .members. The district presidents of Nos. T and 2 districts, Bros. Tyrrell and Leathiey, attended officially, . and were receivedwith musical honours. P.D.P. Bro. A. E. Jelley was also a welcome visitor. The booklet for 1937 was received, and a vote of-thanks and appreciation was passed to the committee for its very fine efforts in compiling such an interesting and instructive- handbook. An interesting debate-took place between the lodge members, the subject being ‘ Is Compulsory Military Training in. New Zealand EssentialP/D.P.s Bros. Leathiey and Tyrrell were the judges, while P.D.P. Bro. A. E. Jelley acted as chairman. P.D.P. Bro. G. Wilson led the affirmative side, . while P.D.P. Bro. J. A. Metcalf led the negative side. The younger members taking part in the debate were congratulated on' their fine showing. The summing up of the judges gave 'the affirmative side the decision. A vote of thanks to the judges and "chairman was carried by acclamation. The toasts' were given and replied to' by P.D.P. -Bro; Tyrrell (No. -1 district), Bro. Leathiey, D.P. (No. .2 district), also P.D.P. Bro. Jelley (Pride of Mornington Lodge). Supper was served, and an enjoyable evening was closed in harmony. " ' :
