BOY SCOUTS’ EXHIBITION
HODBiES DISPLAY CONCLUDES The exhibition of hobbies and handicrafts, which was presented by the Boy Scouts of the Dunedin metropolitan district was concluded on Saturday evening. Much interest was manifested by the public, and excellent patronage was given. The display included examples of work which the Scouts are encouraged to do in their spare time to qualify for various efficiency badges, which range from severely practical occupations to purely artistic and decorative. The general standard of the exhibits was high, and in nearly every section there was work which was of outstanding quality. During the afternoon Sir Percy S'argood, president of tho Dunedin metropolitan district, was present with the Dominion commissioners, who greeted tho local officers, and a talk to _the Cubs was given by Ur Clonncll Fenwick, Dominion chief commissioner. District Scoutmaster Manthorpe (“ llama ”), of Timani, was also present, and gave an interesting talk ou Cubbing, A varied programme covering all aspects of Cub work and including several solo items was given by the north and south districts packs. In the evening the visiting commissioners hold a conference with the district officers at the metropolitan headquarters, and later a “round tho table ” discussion with tho Parents’ Committee was held. The exhibition was again well attended by _ visitors during the evening, when an interesting programme was given by south district Scouts and Hovers and tho Sea Scolds also gave a number of camplire items.
