AMERICAN TARIFF
GOVERNOR LANDDN'S POLICY , ROOSEVELT METHODS CONDEMNED Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright MINNEAPOLIS, September 24. Governor Landon to-day chose this agricultural centre, near the Canadian border, to deliver his major address on the tariff question, which hinged around vigorous condemnation of President Roosevelt’s reciprocal trade treaty policy. He said that agreements negotiated with eight countries increased the imports of agricultural products by 84 per cent, and the exports by only 26 per cent., and that a great number of producers were distressed by the Canadian imports of dairy products and live stock. Governor Landon did not definitely promise to repeal the Reciprocal Trade Act, but outlined his policy for limiting tariff trading to non-com-petitive products. He further indicated a change in the method of negotiating tariff matters, giving more power to Congress.
