CANTERBURY MARKETS [Pbe United Pbbss Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, September 25. The potato market has weakened consistently during the week, and trade for the past two days has been practically at a standstill. Quotations are only •' nominal, though prices have been dis- . proportionately high' in Auckland. The arrival there iirthe immediate future of adequate supplies should keep that market quiet. Shipments at cheaper rates than the current f.o.b. quotation ; for Lyttelton have been made to both c Auckland and Wellington from Dunedin and Bluff, and supplies there appear to be plentiful. The Port Fairy is now loading, and will take between 800 and 400 .'tons, for South America. No further boat for this quarter has yet been arranged, but " there is a chance that a further shipment will be made. r The wheat market continues steady, with only a fair trade, but with no alteration in prices. Chaff is weak, but there has been no further movement in prices since the fall at the beginning of the week. Blenheim quotations have been reduced, and this has influenced the market here. The small seeds market is quiet. Trading is limited but steady, and ' prices remain unaltered. Some fairly substantial Government orders have been filled in the past week.
