PORT CHALMERS AFFAIRS

CONGREGATIONAL FLOWER SHOW The Congregational Church held a highly successful flower show yesterday afternoon. The show was opened by the mayor, and the Rev. J. Sands thanked the exhibitors and all those who were working to make a success of the annual fixture. An exhibition stand of narcissi by Mr S. Caspar, of Sawyers Bay, was a pleasing feature of the show. The wonderful texture, shape, and size gave amateurs an example of the results of proper stock and cultivation. Among the blooms which were shown to advantage were t— 1 Seraglio, Tregose, Copper Bowl, St. Just. An exhibit of stock Gethsemane by Mrs T. Collier was from seed originally brought here from the Holy Land. Mrs A. Prattley displayed a decorated howl, bouquet, gent’s buttonhole, and lady’s spray. Miss N. Prattley showed exhibits of Anemone Pulsitila, Erythronium. Jonquil Odorous-Plenus, Fritoleria Mealiagris. Judges: Narcissi, Mr S. Caspar; cut flowers, Mr J.
