MACANDREW BAY ORPHANS' CLUB
One of the most suoessful functions oyer held by the Macandrew Bay Orphans’ Club was the ladies’ night on Wednesday evening, when, the 250 guests included visitors from. Christchurch, Ashburton, Oamaru, and Invercargill. The secretary of the Kindred Clubs’ Association, Colonel A. E. Loach (Christchurch) was present and described the function as one of the finest he had ever attended. The hall was beautifully decorated, and the supper tables were charmingly ■arranged with flowers, the whole of the arrangements being conducted _ by the club’s own committee in conjunction with a special ladies’ committee, to the members of which presentations were made during the evening. Following the musical programme a very, jolly dance was held, the music being provided by the Savonia Orchestra. Among those present were Mesdames D. Maider (wearing a hlack sequin gown), C. J. L. Packer (black satin tunic frock), A. M'Millan (green crinkle crepe), T. D. Christensen (wine ring velvet, with -sequin trimming), Arthur Macdonald (rose satin), J. B. Young (navy blue silk and lace), G. ' Smith (black lace, with metal trimmings), C. Oldham (black sOk velvet; with silver girdle, and red catee with, white fur), G.-Pocklington (black velvet,' trimmed 'with silver lame, and coatee to match), W. B. Robinson (figured. Parisian crepe), W. H. Timms (black velvet), L. ,G. Tyrie (prune-silk and fur coat), A. Hartley (red crepe de chine and silver tinsel), T. Bachop (black georgette and lace), S. Cameron, J. M‘Killop.
