LABOUR DAY

ANNUAL MEETING The annual! .meeting of the Otago Labour Day Association, held this week, was largely attended by delegates from their respective trade unions. During the past five or six years a number' of trade unions were unable to afford the association the financial support which was customary of them in previous years, but the annual celebrations were continued each year with the assistance of business firms and persons and such trade unions as were able to assist financially. The railway excursion and picnic will be conducted again this year, and an extensive programme of sports events, including some novelty turns, will be held at Mosgiol on Labour Day. The office-bearers for the ensuing year are as follow : —President, Mr W. ‘A. Walker; senior and junior vicepresidents, Messrs J. A. Carman and J. Ross; treasurer, Mr E. Agnew; committee, Messrs C. Conley and J. Spence; secretary, Mr M. j. Kelly.
