COOL AM) GHANCEMLE The following weather forecast wa* issued at noon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the southern districts—Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton, Orepuki, Bluff, Halfmoon Bay:— A shallow cyclonic depression is centred north-east of East Cape, and a moderate westerly depression is crossing the _ South Island. An anti - cyclone is located over Eastern Australia and is advancing on to the Tasman Sea. Forecast: Moderate but freshening southerly winds. Weather cool and changeable, with scattered showers, and, on parts of the coast, hail. Seas moderate to rather rough. FINE AND SUNNY. Rainfall totalling .15in fell early this morning, but ceased at 9 o’clock, and the weather cleared quickly. At noon' there was some sunshine, and no wind, with a lightly clouded sky. Temperatures to-day at 1.46 p.m. showed a decrease on the registrations yesterday. The-respective maxima for the two days were 62deg and 50deg, and the minima 48deg and 46deg at this time. For a 24-hour period yesterday the readings were 64.8 deg and 44.5 deg. Barometric pressure has also fallen, a steady reading of 29.55 in being recorded at noon, as compared with a tendency to fall at 29.7 m yesterday. Indications were favourable at 1.45 p.m. to-day, the afternoon promising to be fine but cool.
