Criminal master minds plot jus death, deadly cobras strike out with poisonous fangs, and foaming gorillas rage at his back, but Warner Oland as the famous Chinese detective calmly and silently unravels one of the most baffling mysteries of his entire career in the Fox picture ‘ Charlie Chan at the Circus,’ which is havng a season at the Grand. It is Chan’s task in the new picture to track down a mysterious killer, who, after having committed one murder, returns time and again to the scene of the crime to silence those who might know lua identity. Since the murdered man was owner of a circus and his relations with the performers were none to amiable, every one of the circus people is under suspicion, including the giant gorilla who was out of his cage at the time the crime was committed. With few clues to work with and continuous attempts upon his life hindering his progress on the case, Chan slowly weaves a web of evidence around the suspected party. To tlie amazement of, the police and the circus performers, who are all baffled by the mystery of the ease, Chan uses one of the victims of the murderer as .a decoy and cleverly traps the suspected person into revealing his true identity. The solution of the crime brings happine'ss to the largo circus group who were continually terrorised by the unknown criminal. Prominent in the supporting cast are Keyo Luke, who portrays Chan’s son, Francis Ford, Maxine Reiner. John M'Guire, Shirley Deane, Paul Stanton, and J. Carrol Naish.
