BANNED FROM DRIVING
FOUND WITH MOTOR CYCLE [Pee United Pee*s Association.] WELLINGTON, September 25. Harold Jesse Smith was charged ai Upper Hutt with driving without % license, and Arthur Langford with assisting him in the commission of the offence. The evidence showed that Smith’e driving license Was cancelled in February until November 18 for dangerou* driving, and he was found in charge of a motor cycle on September IS. - At first he tried to pose as the owner, Langford, and later produced Langford’s license. .. 1 - “ What is the use of the court cancelling your license if you are going t« drive as usual? ” asked, Mr Lawry, S.M. “ Then on top of it you tell a lot of lies and put the inspector to * great deal of trouble.” In ordinary circumstances, said Mr Lawry, he would have fined Smith £5, but bei cause of his lies he would be fined £7 and the period of license cancellation extended till March. Langford was fined £3.
