Cook now lies in the Wellington Hospital suffering from con- . cession and a lacerated scalp, and the . police are searching for his assailant. Cook was painting white lines on the street when a passing car knocked over a lamp he had placed on the ground nearby. He approached the driver of the car, and while they were talking a bystander interfered. Passers-by were amazed to see the man suddenly strike Cook a heavy blow on the jaw and then make off.
