AUSTRALIA’S CLAIMS PROTEST BY NORWAY. Press Association —By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, September 22. The Oslo correspondent of ‘ The Times ’ says attention has been attracted by a Canberra message that Australia intends to expand her territory to include the islands and lands south of 60 degrees, inasmuch as the areas embrance King Land, Queen Astrid Land, Ingrid Christensen Land, and half of Queen Maud’s Land, all of which Norwegian expeditions discovered. Captain Riiser Larsen, the aviator-explorer, denies that Sir Douglas Mawson saw Queen Maud s Land before he did. Captain Lutzow Holm discovered it and flew round the coast.
