AIRMAN’S INJURIES
GUY MENZIES’S ACCIDENT STILL A MYSTERY. Press Association—By Telegraph— Copyright London, September 22. (Received September 23, at 10.5 a.in.) Mystery still surrounds the accident to Flight-lieutenant Menzies. Although it was stated that an inquiry would be held a few days later, nothing has been heard since. All the Air Ministry will say is: “ The whole matter is held up. Presumably Menzies is not well enough to give evidence. We have not had a report from the Air Force station.” [A message received on August 25 stated: The police are inquiring into the injuries to Flight-lieutenant G. L. Menzies, R.A.F., formerly of Sydney, who was found unconscious early this morning under the dormitory window at Northweald air field, Epping, in bloodstained pyjamas. He was taken to the hospital in a serious condition. The doctors are baffled on account of the wounds. Menzies joined the R.A.F. in 1931. He recently came from Singapore, where he had Hying boat experience. He is now attached l to No. 56 fighter squadron, Northweald. A later message states that Menzies’s condition is unchanged. The Air Ministry is silent, but states that an inquiry will be held to-morrow.]
