ORCHESTRAL SOCIETY
The programme for the third concert of the forty-ninth season of the Dunedin Orchestral Society, which will be held in the Town Hall Concert Chamber to-night, at 8, is a very attractive one. Mendelssohn’s ever popular ‘ Concerto for Piano and Orchestra ’ is the outstanding number to bo played, with Miss Winifred Gardner as the soloist. A new overture, ‘ TallyHo,’ by Ansell, and ‘ Three Irish Scenes,’ by Naylor, have been presented to the society by one of the vice-presidents (Mr H. Adam). These are extremely interesting compositions that should have an immediate appeal. Sullivan’s ‘ lolant.be,’ Delibo’s ‘Prelude and Mazurka,’ ‘Polonaise in A Major ’ (Chopin), a Hungarian march arranged by de Peeder, and oilier items comprise the orchestral bill of fare.
