HOSPITAL CONTROL
AUCKLAND PROPOSAL MANAGER-SECRETARY [Per United Press Association.] 'AUCKLAND, September 22. The appointment of a manager-secre-tary to have complete control of all the activities of the Auckland Hospital, except medical and nursing activities, at a salary of £1,200 a year is to be discussed at a special meeting of the Hospital Board next week. The appointment was suggested by tbo chainpan (the Rev. W. C. Wood) at a special meeting held to-night to deal with the report on hospital administration made by Mr G. Grey Campbell, public accountant, and discussed at other special' meetings recently. Other suggestions made by the chairman were that authority should be sought from the Government to enable the board to proceed with the erection of a surgical block and sanatorium and also an administrative block as the first portion of a five-year building plan, and that the board should advise the Government that it regards the building of two recovery hospitals, one in the north and one in the south of the hospital district, as essential features of the building plan. It was also suggested that the position of manager-secretary should be advertised in New Zealand and Australia, and that the salary should rise to £1,500 at the rate of £IOO a year.
