The mayor (the Rev. E. T. Cox) is on a visit to Wellington on municipal business.

Mr H. J. Lousley left for Wellington to-day on a business trip. Mr J. R. Haigh was a through passenger from Invercargill for .Wellington to-day. Mr J. H, Martin, general manager of the Queensland Insurance Company, returned to Wellington by to-day’s second express. Miss Eileen Joyce left Dunedin today, having concluded her broadcasting engagement at 4YA. Mr W. T, Hazlett was a passenger for Wellington by the through express to-day. He will travel by the Wanganella, en route to Melbourne.

Mr A. N. Williams, attorney for New Zealand for the California Casing Company, returned to Wellington by to-day’s second express. Sir Michael Myers, Chief Justice of New Zealand, is expected to return from his trip to England on October 22.

Mr R. B. Bennett has returned to Wellington after his visit to Dunedin. He is a' guest at Government House. Mr R. B. Reynolds, inspector of the postal division of the Post and Telegraph Department, and Mr A. W. Parker, inspector of telegraphs, are visiting Dunedin.

Mr M. D. Clarke, who has been a member of the_ Invercargill branch of the South British Insurance Company Ltd. for the past three years, has -received notice of his transfer to the Western Australian branch of the company. His headquarters will be at Perth.

A Press Association message from Wellington states that Mr H. F. O’Leary returned to-day from Sydney by the Wanganella. Colonel A. E. Loach, of Christchurch, arrived by the express from the north yesterday in order to .attend a meeting of the Macandrew Bar Orphans’’Club to-night. (Monel Loach is general secretary of the Kindred Clubs. Accompanying him was Mr A. H. Todd, ex-great chief of the Ashburton Savage Club.
