Tte vice-chairman of the National Bavines Movement estimates the sav2nop of small investors at £2,848,000,000, which sum includes £584,000,000 in the Post Office Savings Bank, £242,000,000 in national savings certificates, and £1,515,000,000 in building societies, friendly, industrial, _ and- provident Societies, and industrial assurances.
