OBITUARY
MR W. N. FORD The death of William Newcombe Lord occurred at Pembroke last week, the passing of whom removed one of the oldest residents of the Wanaka district. Mr Ford was born at Lyttelton in 1853 and went to Pembroke when a boy. He secured work on a sheep run, and afterwards became head shepherd for Mr Henry Campbell, < of Wanaka Station. Later he went into the Forks run in partnership with Mr Ewen Cameron, and after Mr Cameron’s retirement he took Mr John Scott as partner. Mr Ford retired from active work about 1912 and lived at his home in Pembroke. He was a kindly man, highly esteemed by those who knew him. lie married Miss Henderson (a daughter of one of the early settlers on the Otago Peninsula), who predeceased him some years ago. He leaves one son (Mr Bert Ford) and two daughters (Miss Ada Ford and Mrs Stewart Clark, of Caversham).
