TAXI SERVICES INQUIRY
FULL FINANCIAL STATEMENTS REQUIRED [Pek United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, September 22. The announcement that the committee expected financial statements from operators, as it desired full information concerning the capital involved in the undertakings, the men employed, the rate of wages paid, and the profit and loss for the last year, was made by the chairman (Mr Buller) when the taxi cab and carrying business inquiry was resumed to-day. If the statements were not forthcoming voluntarily, he said, the committee would take steps to have them produced compulsorily. _ It was hoped, however, that those giving evidence would co-operate with the committee by giving all the information possible. A careful examination of the financial aspect of the position was important, and it might bo necessary to appoint an accountant to assist the committee. After further evidence had been heard the inquiry was adjourned in order to make arrangements with the Government for a third member to assist. One witness said that he would make a confidential statement to the committee concerning liis income.
