ALUMINIUM IN GREATER USE

_ Aluminium is bound to prove a serious rival to tho better-known linings and decorative materials during the nest few years. Eeports in which stress has been laid on tho special qualities of this metal have appeared somewhat profusely in recent publications devoted to tho interests of building trades, and architects and decorators overseas are now specifying the material for use on an ever-increasing scale. There is little doubt that aluminium may be employed effectively in large commercial structures. For instance, in doors and wall panels its permanently brilliant lustre imparts an engaging appearance to interiors. In an age in which there is a pronounced tendency to introduce metals almost throughout departmental stores and similar buildings there might even be some basis for the belief that aluminium will oust some of the rustless steel, for which there is a particular preference at the moment. Some manufacturers are marketing aluminium in a variety of attractively coloured sheets, as well as in the natural state, and tho results being obtained with these new finishes represent an entirely now departure in deigning. Panels and doors faced with tho materials are perfectly flat, are definitely more rigid, anil are not easily dented.
