REARMAMENT PROGRAMME SUPPORT FROM LABOUR PARTY Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, September 19. The ‘ Daily Telegraph’s ’ political correspondent says a five-hour meeting of the Labour National Executive revealed that a substantial majority supported the Government’s rearmament programme. A sub-com-mittee was appointed to draft a resolution to that effect' for submission to the executive for endorsement at the annual conference in October . A member of the House of Copimons. Dr Dalton, said that British Labour should show a united front on the issue of preparation towards arming to defend democratic institutions. >, ■ , . „ Mr J. R. MR MORRISON’S CRITICISM.
LONDON, September 20. (Received September 21, at 1 p.m.) Mr Herbert Morrison, addressing a peace meeting at Woolwich, declared that, short of an outbreak of war, the international situation could not be worse. International statesmanship, with few exceptions, shockingly lacked courage and purpose The declarations of the Naw and Fascist leaders were scandalously provocative and warlike. Most European countries would follow a British lead to organise peace, but the British Government had disclosed no foreign policy, good, bad, or indifferent.
