The biggest tonnage for seven years was handled during last year by Montreal, the total amounting to 11,654,426 tons. The tonnage included 1,058 ocean-going ships, 747 coasters, and 3,920 vessels proceeding to and from- inland ports—a total of 5,725. Seven-or eight years ago Montreal was known primarily as a grain exporting harbour. In 1928 grain exports accounted for roughly half the total. But last year the situation had altered so much that the grain exports were only 10 per cent, of the total tonnage. This interesting point reflects the vast industrial processes which are now transforming the dominion. IN RADIO RANGE.
